The Architect, by the relationships which he creates he wakes in us profound echoes, he gives us the measure of an order which we feel to be in accordance with that of our world, he determines the various movements off our heart and of our understanding; it is then that we experience the sense of beauty. - Le Corbusier

  • rev_matt - I get on at Forest Park. It's very convenient for me, though I'll be really happy when the South Extension is done. 2004-12-10 10:38:53
  • Christy - Except for seeing you on the platform this summer, the only other person I've ever seen on the train is Ryan--and he was getting off as I was getting on. What I can't figure out is where you get ON the Metrolink. Grand? 2004-12-10 09:21:32
  • skywind8 - Perhaps you'll appreciate this story then. http://www.sundayherald.com/46422 Excerpt: "The workers, these poor workers. There is no strength of unionism within retailing so these poor guys have to tolerate this awful stuff all day every day." :) 2004-12-08 22:47:32
  • anonymous - BNL had a really fantastic cover of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen." They paired with Sarah MacLaughlin to do it--it's really rather powerful. I, too, hate the grandma got run over by a reindeer crap. My favorite has always been "Do You Hear What I Hear?", which I have always thought is so simplistic, yet really moving and powerful. 2004-12-08 11:40:02
  • skywind8 - I was having a similar discussion in a forum where several of us were trying to make the point that bombing hospitals and killing civilians isn't making us any friends, and is probably creating more "terrorists" than it's eliminating. It was similarly dismissed out of hand. And then followed up by, "Why make my case when the I've the got the Pentagon to do it for me?" and an excerpt from the newly published defense department report about losing the war on information related to winning hearts and minds. I love sychronicity. 2004-12-07 18:36:16
  • grizzly - but greeting cards are so useful for those of us who can't think of anything to say, or are chronically late (It arrived late? I mailed it weeks ago. how strange.) My favorite was "I'm sorry I forgot your ______." - inside "I shouldn't let my mind wander like that. It's much too small to be out on it's own." I've resused those lines for YEARS. 2004-12-03 16:01:04
  • beth - Bumper sticker is great - I saw the ubiquitous ribbon magnets on vehicles all over town and thought maybe people were buying them as fundraisers for the families of the soldiers or something. Then I found them at Walgreen's. What a bunch of pretentious fools. 2004-11-28 04:50:20
  • rev_matt - Linked the review. I couldn't find a link for the Sugar Art Guild ;) 2004-11-23 15:09:03
  • a-go-go - no link? 2004-11-23 13:50:27
  • anonymous - When I was little, I ate two of the sugar art ornaments my Mom had for the Christmas tree. Perhaps they are searching for protection from toddlers with a sweet tooth? 2004-11-23 13:43:54
